Museum News
2020 has certainly been an interesting year for all of us. COVID-19 resulted in the closure of the Museum during April and May, we had to cancel most events and postpone others.
However, there were still plenty of highlights in 2020, which included:
– Hosting Aircraft Showcase in October, under COVID restrictions, with 500 people.
– The Canberra restoration and return to service, with only test flights to be carried out.
– The Vampire return to service, again with only test flights to be carried out.
– The completion of many annual inspections.
– Participation in a flypast over Canberra to commemorate VP Day.
– Taking the Hudson to Williamtown to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the loss of ‘Magpie 91’.
– The re-launch of TAM branded merchandise, with still more to come in 2021!
– The creation of a beautiful outdoor area on site, and
– The announcement of the Temora Air Force Centenary Showcase for March 6th & 7th 2021, to replace the cancelled Warbirds Downunder event.
The staff and volunteers at the Temora Aviation Museum would like to thank you for your ongoing support and understanding during these challenging times.
We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you here 2021.

Engineering
Since our last newsletter, plenty has happened in Engineering.
Canberra
– We carried out engine runs on the Canberra to test the vibration levels on each of its engines, with all service limits being met. (See picture above)
– We calibrated the pitot static system and encoder on the Canberra.
Vampire
– The fire bottles and squibs were fitted, logbooks done, and inspections completed. We have also carried out some engine runs.
This means the Canberra & Vampire are now serviceable. Stay tuned for flying dates.
Meteor
– The fuel tanks have been put back into the Meteor, which sees the annual inspection nearing its end.
Cessna O-2A
– Annual inspection has been completed.
Boomerang
– We carried out a fuel calibration on the Boomerang (see picture above of Calibration Card)
Other
– Propeller balances on both Spitfires and Boomerang were completed.
– Procedures are being written for propeller and dynamic balances, so that we don’t forget all the great knowledge we learned. (See pictures below)
– We sent a truck to pick up a propeller overhaul bench from Victoria, along with some other goodies for the workshop. This acquisition will allow us to be self-sufficient to perform propeller overhauls.
– Our Chief Engineer is finalising the Canberra Maintenance Logbook, which is no small task!
